Freeman- Pomegranate Body Sugar Scrub

Ever since i saw this on Urban Touch, i Knew that i had to get my hands on it. I got all excited looking at the juicy red package and have been dreaming of this juicy red yummy looking scrub coming out of the tube. Well, got my package today, and it wasn't red on the inside. Just a clear white gel with itsy bitsy sugar particles on it. So much for my stupid dreams :P But!!! I'm loving this stuff.

What the product describes in its packaging;
Made with natural botanical ingredients, Freeman Feeling beautiful is a full range of skin and body care products to help you feel and look your best.
This sugar based body scrub, enhanced with Pomegranate Extract, exfoliates your skin promoting an all over healthy glow.

Price: 220
Qty:150 ml
Pretty Reasonable right. And it has a shelf life of 3 yrs. Dates are all mentioned on the package.

I've always been using home made scrubs or my St Ives apricot scrub. So buying this was a nice change and what can i say, the smell is intoxicating and i'm loving it. I don't know how to describe the smell. But its fruity i guess, smells yummy, would make you wanna eat it- at least it made me want to eat it :P and the scent lingers for a long long time. If you're not a fan of strong highly perfumed products- then this is not meant for you.

The main exfoliant is sugar in this scrub, the granules are neither coarse nor too fine. They are ideal for the body. You gotta move quickly since the sugar dissolves.

The consistency  is nice and thick and doesn't leave your body greasy or sticky after use.

I think this  is quite a keeper. I'm definitely going to buy this again and wouldn't have to think twice since its dirt cheap for what its worth but only after i try the other scrubs in this range.

Lip Exfoliation-DIY

We all exfoliate our face and body, But what about our lips?? We need to exfoliate our lips once in a while when they get chapped or  discolored. There are many reason for this Smoking being one, then the winters, excess of caffeine , exposure to the sun and so on.

So, this is a simple homemade exfoliator, its not harsh. Since it contains:
1. Sugar- Its a natural abrasive and gets rid of dead cells easily
2.Honey: hydrates your lips well
3.Olive oil: moisturizes

HOW TO MAKE IT:
You will need ( even this content makes extra. use less of every ingredient.)

  • 1/2 teaspoon of sugar
  • 3/4th tsp honey
  • 1/4 tsp olive oil
  • Clean spoon or spatula
  • a small glass bowl
Mix all of this well. Its going to get all thick and sticky :P  Rub on your lips with circular movement for a minute or two and wipe off with a cloth soaked in water or with your palm filled with water.

Happy Scrubbing :P

Sephora Colorful Palette- Guimauve 11

I thought i'd do a review of one of my favorite eye shadow Palettes. I got it as a gift from my aunt last year. Im guessing this was a limited edition, i did check online they dont have this anymore, ebay has a few left and are priced at 25$
Guimauve is perfect for highlighting eyes, It works well as a base shadow. There is a combination of glittery and shimmery shadows in this kit. And one thing i like most, the colour is iridescent , varies in colour when seen in different angles or different  light. Although you have to apply a generous amount for these to show up.
The colours in this palette are a light green with green glitter, an iredescent pale blue, an iredescent gold shimmer and a light pearl pink shimmer.
Taken in Different Lights.

A few swatches starting from my lil finger gold, pink, blue and green

I took this last pic off the net. I liked the way the colours were displayed  on it. Never looked so bright on my eyes though.

Maybelline Dream Mousse Blush

I've never been such a fan for blush, but when i got myself one the addiction began. Now i cant keep myself from them. I got The Dream Mousse Blush in soft plum and loved it. And then i got the peach satin which was not the best decision i made , all because i fell in love with soft plum, all it had was glitter, bought it online BTW, and did not realise it would be glittery and its not even peachy for crying out loud :( I know there are alot of reviews about them already, so another one probably wouldn't hurt right!!

 So these are the swatches:
The 1st one is soft plum and the 2nd peach satin

What i Love about these Mousse blushes, They are so light and so easy to use, u dont need a brush to apply them although i use one.  And they are cheap Rs 205/-. Makes it a good blush for those buying their 1st blush.
I guess the Peach satin would look good on those with a fair skin tone. And the soft plum is a versatile colour, many can carry it off.

Hashmi Kajal

Alright, so all of us have been caught up with the controversies of this Hashmi Kajal. When i saw this on Urban Touch, i was so excited that this brand was from Pakistan, well, i had to get my hands on it, and im aware of how Pakistanis and Arab women get those dark gorgeous eyes,  i thought- this must be what they use. Dint take long to see how some girls started posting things about how hashmi has been banned because of the lead content in it. I got so paranoid and started with my research. And this was what i found- There are studies to prove that Hashmi is safe. Hashmi makes a powder eyeliner which consists of 50% lead sulfide( the less poisonous form of lead) And the stick and cream presentations are made of amorphous carbon, which are safe to use on   your eyes. Phew!!! relief right. But im still not so happy about this.

So i bought both the Kajal stick as well as the Kajal tube.
 About Hashmi Kajal Tube:

You wont understand anything because its all in arabic. The colour is a intense black,  looks pretty good when you use it initially ,unfortunately within no time it begins to smudge . It costs Rs.40/-  Got it for Rs.34/- on Urban Touch. This is what it looks like with one swipe on my hand.   Application is easy, it comes with a probe as u can see in the image above.

About The Kajal Stick:

I did not like it, its dry and rough and hurts the eyes. Again costs Rs.40/- too. The colour is not all that dark. I prefer the tube to the stick. This is the swatch of the kajal stick, the first line was with 2 swipes of the stick and the thick line was when i scribbled on my hand rubbing it around 10-12 times :P

To my personal Experience with Hashmi, I don't think its worth buying, If you really want to try it out, you can buy the tube.   And Yes, i somehow still have the fear of that little chance of lead being in the kajal. I dont want to be a victim of lead poisoning.

Body Polishing made easy

Im just gonna quit on explaining how important our skin is and how we should take care of it. Well we all are aware of it, since we read it over and over again everywhere we go and in every product we use :P
So, lets start with the stuff we will need to get our body polished:
1. Pumice stone or a loofah
2. Oils like coconut/olive
3.Exfoliating scrubs like sugar/salt
4.You can use skin polishing kits that are available in the market/ shea butter/choco butter/jojoba butter.

EXFOLIATION: To start with moisten your body with warm water and apply your favorite body scrub
( you can use any face scrub or home made scrubs like powdered oats, sandal paste etc) rub every area in circular motion.
For acne on back, arms and legs you can use fruit peels or packs with retino. Keep moisturising skin and avoid getting exposed to sunlight.
After 20-25 minutes you can take a warm shower and massage your body with olive/coconut oil. With the help of a towel warm and steam your body. You can continue with salt or sugar scrub. This completes the exfoliation process.

SKIN POLISHERS: Home made body polish is a cheap and easy solution. Fresh strawberries mixed in vitamin E oil can be an excellent polisher. Polishing can start right after exfoliation.
Brown sugar, Dry Orange peel powder, almond oil can also be another polish.
Voila Your'e done.

MORE RECIPES:
Mix Brown Sugar and Jojoba Oil ( Polisher):  Add 1 cup brown sugar/finely ground sea salt, 1/2 cup jojoba oil, 1 tablespoon orange essential  oil, 4-5 capsules vitamin E to a glass bowl. You can also use a little of your body wash to this mixture.
Scrub in circular motion. Rinse and apply moisturiser.

Baking soda and Aloe Vera scrub( Exfoliatant): Baking soda is a exfoliatant. It also softens skin. Helps in preventing acne and body odour. It is a wonder ingredient in the bathroom.
Add 2 tbsp of baking soda to a bowl with some pure aloe vera gel.
Baking soda can be used everyday with or without aloe vera.
Baking soda with honey makes a good face scrub. Mix 1 tsp of honey with 1/4 tsp of baking soda. scrub with circular movement and wash with warm water. If you have sensitive skin just use honey, it traps moisture and leaves your skin cleansed but not dried out.

Coffee Scrub:
Ground coffee ( nice lil pieces-not powdered), Sea salt, and any herbal oil that you own. Mix and scrub scrub scrub..

Oatmeal Scrub:
Mix 2 heaping tbsp of oatmeal with 1 tsp of baking soda, add enough water to make a sticky paste, scrub and rinse off with warm water.

Happy Scrubbing :)
